The mission of Holy Spirit School is to serve God by providing a challenging academic education within the Catholic Tradition.
Middle School Religion puts a large focus on study of the Bible in order to better understand the redemption story of Jesus. When the students are confident in their knowledge of the Bible and knowing how the Old Testament connects to the New Testament, they are able to better relate to the love of Jesus and the plan God had for our salvation.
6th Grade Religion: Students will study the Old Testament and work in their Bibles daily. They will use a variety of methods to locate parts of the Bible stories and become more confident in where things are and what the role of each person was. In addition, they will work through the Family Tree of Jesus as the year progresses, and by the end of the year they will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the family tree from Adam & Eve all the way through the birth of Jesus Christ. Our 6th graders also enhance their faith life by participating in monthly rosary, weekly study of the Saints, analyzing contemporary Christian music, and memorization of Bible verses.
7th Grade Religion: Students will study the New Testament and work in their Bibles daily. Our 7th graders will build on their Old Testament knowledge from the previous year to move into the New Testament and story of Jesus here on Earth. They will study the gospels, letters from St. Paul, all the way through Revelation. In addition, the students will dive deeper into the personal side of Jesus and who he was as a human, in order to better form a relationship with Him. Part of the year will also focus on a review of basic Catholic teachings such as the Beatitudes, Ten Commandments, Fruits of the Holy Spirit, Holy Days of Obligation, and the Sacraments. Our 7th graders also enhance their faith life by participating in monthly rosary, weekly study of the Saints, analyzing contemporary Christian music, and memorization of Bible verses.
